Provence Discovery Trip for Sommeliers and Media, Oct. 5-10, 2014

Sommelier/Media Tasting Tour 2014
Sommeliers and media in several American markets joined Wines of Provence in 2014 to taste and discuss a selection of wines at an educational pairing luncheon. The tasting seminar highlighted a Provence wine flight illustrating the region’s diverse terroirs and flavor profiles. In each city, a sommelier helped lead the conversation:

Provence in the City 2014 (March 3-10)

  • Boston: Trade and media tasting of wines from 23 wineries, plus a wine seminar featuring Michael Meagher and Viktoria Todorovska -- at Island Creek Oyster Bar/Commonwealth Hotel. Pairing dishes by Chef Jeremy Sewell.
  • Chicago: Trade and media tasting of wines from 21 wineries, plus a wine seminar featuring Viktoria Todorovska and Francois Millo -- at the Pump Room/Public Hotel. Pairing dishes by Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten.
  • San Francisco: Trade and media tasting of wines from 21 wineries, plus a wine seminar featuring Eric Entrikin, MS, and Viktoria Todorovska -- at the Plant Cafe Organic. Pairing dishes by Chef Sascha Weiss.
  • New York: Media luncheon/seminar and tasting of wines from 33 wineries at the Lafayette Grand Cafe. Pairing dishes by Chef Andrew Carmellini. Presentation by Viktoria Todorovska and Francois Millo.

International Symposium on Rosé Wine, April 2013
This conference brought together scientists, academics, economists, journalists, wine producers, and wine trade professionals to discuss worldwide rosé wine production techniques, market conditions, marketing strategies, and consumption trends. Details here. 

Provence in the City 2013: Chicago, March 2013
The first-ever presentation of the celebrated wines of Provence in Chicago, with 25 wineries pouring some of the finest rosé, red, and white wines of Provence. Wines were paired with a special selection of foods from award-winning chef Paul Virant of Perennial Virant.

Provence in the City 2013: New York, March 2013
The year’s largest presentation of the celebrated wines of Provence in the U.S. -- 30 Provence wineries pouring some of the finest rosé, red, and white wines of Provence, paired wtih a special selection of flavorful foods from executive chef and Provence native Florian Hugo of Brasserie Cognac. 

Côtes de Provence On-Premise Wine Promotion Challenge - Fall/Winter 2012
In this inaugural wine promotion challenge, sommeliers and general managers working in a U.S. restaurant were invited to enter to win a trip to Provence for two. The winning entrant was selected based on the innovation and effectiveness of the on-premise program in promoting the wines of AOP Côtes de Provence in pairings with international cuisine or traditional holiday fare. 

DC Media Pairing Dinner, November 2012
The marriage of Provence rosé and contemporary Indian food was featured in a fall/winter pairing series hosted by the acclaimed Rasika West End restaurant in Washington, D.C. The series began Nov. 13 with a six-course pairing dinner for media. The pairings were replicated in consumer dinners hosted throughout November and December.

Sommelier Seminars, October 2012
Vins de Provence and the Guild of Sommeliers teamed up to offer a Provence wine seminar for restaurant sommeliers. Participants tasted approximately 10 Provence wines – rosés, reds, and whites – available in their local market and learned about the region’s history, terroir, climate, and grapes. The two-hour seminar was offered in Los Angeles; Washington, DC; and New York City. More locations will be added in 2013.

Wine Trade Trip, September/October 2012
A six-day trip to Provence for U.S. importers and other trade members. Participants tasted wines, toured vineyards, and met one-on-one with producers.  

Food & Wine Classic in Aspen 2012
Provence producers exhibited their wines for a second year at the Classic in Aspen, a high-end consumer event celebrating its 30th year. In connection with the Classic, Provence wines were also featured at the L’Occitane en Provence store in Aspen the evening of June 15.

Society of Wine Educators Annual Conference, July 25-27
A session titled "Provence: Ancient Roman Roads to Modern Biodynamics" was presented by David Glancy, founder of the San Francisco Wine School, as part of this conference in San Mateo, Calif.

Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board Training
The PLCB held spring 2012 tasting/training seminars in Philadelphia, Harrisburg, and Pittsburgh to educate in-state retailers about Provence and its wines.

James Beard Foundation Awards Reception 2012
Vins de Provence participated in the James Beard Foundation Awards gala in New York for the second straight year. This reception celebrates nominees and winners of the “highest honor for food and beverage professionals working in North America.”

Provence in the City / Provence Tasting Tour 2012
More than 40 Provence producers poured their top rosé, red, and white wines at a series of exclusive Vins de Provence U.S. tasting-and-pairing events in six cities. Miami (March 21), Washington, DC (March 27), and San Francisco (April 4) debuted as featured markets this year, joining New York (March 23), Boston (March 29), and Los Angeles (April 2) in our fourth annual Provence tasting series. 

American Wine Society Conference, November 2011
A class titled Provence: Sea, Sun and Seriously Good Wine was part of the program at the 2011 national conference of the American Wine Society. The class, led by Lisa Airey, director of education for the French Wine Society, was planned in collaboration with Vins de Provence. 

Wine Trade Trip, October 2011
A six-day harvest-time trade trip to Provence. Participants toured vineyards, tasted wines, sampled Provençal cuisine, and met one-on-one with local producers.

Newport WineFest 2011
Côtes de Provence producers poured their iconic rosés at four grand tasting sessions at New England’s largest outdoor wine and food festival in August.

Vins de Provence at Vinexpo 2011
More than 20 Provence producers and négociants poured their dry rosés at Vinexpo 2011 in June, including Château de la Mascaronne, Château du Rouët & SAS Savatier Selection, Château Henri Bonnaud, Château La Calisse, Château Lauzade - Seneclauze, Château les Crostes, Château Les Valentines, Château Minuty, Château Miraval, Château Sainte Marguerite, Commanderie de Peyrassol, Domaine de La Croix, Domaine de Saint Ser, Famille Sumeire - Vignerons en Provence, Le Cercle des Vignerons de Provence, Les Vins Bréban, Maison Fabre, Vignobles F. Ravel, and Vignobles Jose Garcia.  

Bastille Day on 60th Street, NYC
Vins de Provence was the exclusive wine sponsor for the 2011 Bastille Day on 60th Street, the oldest and largest Bastille Day festival in New York City. Vins de Provence offered visitors four opportunities, including a wine tasting and a sensory challenge, which invited festival-goers to experience an array of Provence rosé wines using all five senses. 

Food & Wine Classic in Aspen
Vins de Provence participated in the June 2011 Food & Wine Classic in Aspen (Colorado), pouring dry rosé for some of the 5,000 consumers and food industry members in attendance. The weekend event included cooking demos, wine tastings, and seminars led by wine and food superstars such as Mario Batali, José Andrés, Jacques Pépin, and Gail Simmons.

Pink Out! SF, Annual Celebration of Rosé 
Six leading wine producers from the Provence region poured their 2010 rosé wines at the 7th annual Pink Out! SF rosé wine celebration on May 10. Provence rosés were the only French wines featured at the event, sponsored by the Rosé Avengers & Producers. 

James Beard Foundation Awards Reception 2011
Considered the Oscars of the food world, the James Beard Foundation Awards highlight the best and brightest talents in the U.S. food and beverage industry. Vins de Provence and a select group of producers served as wine sponsors for the 1,000-guest reception following the private awards ceremony at New York's Lincoln Center on May 9. 

"Provence in the City" 2011 Tasting Events
More than 30 Provence producers poured their top rosé, red, and white wines at a series of exclusive Vins de Provence tasting-and-pairing events. Boston (March 2) debuted as a featured market this year, joining New York (Feb. 28) and Los Angeles (Feb. 24) in our third annual Provence in the City tasting series.

San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival 2010
The 7th annual San Diego Bay Wine & Food Festival took place Nov. 17-21, 2010, and Vins de Provence was a silver sponsor. More than a dozen Provence producers poured their wines for the festival-goers.

Kohler Food & Wine Experience 2010
Vins de Provence, in partnership with the Midwest Wine School, was a sponsor of the Kohler Food & Wine Experience in Kohler, Wisc. The annual October festival is a weekend of culinary demonstrations, tastings, and seminars. It features award-winning chefs, noted wine experts, and regional restaurateurs. 

Wine Trade Trip, October 2010
A six-day harvest-time trade trip to the Côtes de Provence appellation, France's oldest winemaking region. Participants toured vineyards, tasted wines, sampled Provençal cuisine, and met one-on-one with local producers.

Club Culinaire Trade Show 2010
Côtes de Provence rosé producers poured their wines for members of the trade at the Club Culinaire of French Cuisine's Boutique Trade Show, held Aug. 23 in Los Angeles. 

French Wine Society 2010 Annual Conference

Picnic des Chefs 2010
Vins de Provence partnered with Club Culinaire, a French chefs’ club in Southern California, to promote French food, wine, and culture at the 30th annual Picnic des Chefs in Los Angeles. The June 13 event attracted 1,000 guests.

James Beard Foundation Awards 2010 
Vins de Provence was a wine sponsor for the James Beard Foundation Awards 2010 in New York City. Considered the Oscars of the food world, the James Beard Foundation Awards shine a spotlight on the best and brightest talent in the food and beverage industry. 

City of Lights, City of Angels: April 2010 
Vins de Provence was a major sponsor the 2010 City of Lights, City of Angels (COLCOA) film festival in Hollywood. This week of French film premieres took place April 19-25, 2010, at the Directors Guild of America Theatre Complex on Sunset Boulevard in Los Angeles.
