Château l’Afrique
Côtes de Provence,
Côtes de Provence Sainte-Victoire
Wine has been produced on this land in Cuers, Provence, since the time of the Romans. The estate was purchased by Gabriel Sumeire in 1953 and today is run by his descendant Sophie Sumeire Denante. The name Château l’Afrique, given at the beginning of the 19th century, reflects the Eastern influences evident in this period. The 148-acre property is undergoing an organic reconversion, which will be complete in time for the 2010 vintage.
Cuers
The soil, made up of clay and limestone, is located in a Permian depression.
